Virtual Tags
We are pleased to introduce the new Virtual Tags feature, designed to give users greater control and flexibility in organizing and managing their cloud and hybrid resources. This powerful new feature allows users to create custom tags within DigitalEx by defining a key, value, and additional attributes, enabling more precise categorization and filtering of resources, helping to fill the native tagging gaps that users may have. With Virtual Tags, users can create tailored tagging structures that reflect their specific organizational needs and apply them consistently across various environments. Once created, Virtual Tags can be applied and utilized from across various dashboards and other functionalities within the DigitalEx platform, streamlining resource tracking and management, and making it easier to filter and organize data.
Datacenter Usage and Allocation-Based Cost Options
We are pleased to introduce the new cost options for Datacenter, giving users the flexibility to choose between “usage-based” or “allocation-based” costing models. The usage-based option calculates VM costs based on actual consumption, offering a more accurate reflection of resource usage. The allocation-based model, on the other hand, calculates costs according to number of allocated resources, such as vCPU, memory, and storage - providing a simpler and more straightforward approach to VM cost calculation. These new cost options are available in both the Datacenter Cost Dashboard and the Datacenter Cost Allocation feature, empowering users to select the model that best fits their financial analysis and reporting needs. This added flexibility enhances cost management, enabling organizations to better align their financial strategies with operational goals.
Chart Lookback and Forecast Period Options
We have enhanced our chart capabilities across all our dashboards by introducing a lookback and forecast period option - where applicable. This new feature allows users to effortlessly adjust the timeframes for analyzing both historical data and future projections, providing greater flexibility and control over their data analysis needs. With the ability to customize the lookback and forecast periods, users can now focus only on specific timeframes that are most relevant to their needs, with provided options ranging from 1 to 12 months period. This capability empowers users to tailor their data analysis needs to better understand resource utilization, spending patterns and projections, ultimately supporting more informed decision-making.
Cost Allocation Enhancements
Unit Economics
We have enhanced our Cost Allocations feature by introducing the ability to apply Unit Economics through the definition of a Coefficient, which can represent metrics such as the number of users, transactions, etc. This coefficient can either be updated from the user interface or via APIs on monthly basis if desired. Additionally, users can also apply this Coefficient to shared costs, ensuring a more accurate and equitable distribution of common expenses across various areas of the business.
XLS Download
We have enhanced our Cost Allocations download feature to generate an XLS file that provides a detailed, structured, and hierarchical breakdown of costs across multiple levels of cost allocation segments, units, and shared costs - mirroring exactly what users see in the user interface. This enhancement offers users with a clearer, more intuitive format for their cost allocation data download, making it especially useful for financial reporting purposes.
Other Enhancements
We've also made several other enhancements across the platform to improve your experience with DigitalEx. Some of these improvements include:
Advanced Filter: STARTS WITH and ENDS WITH Operator
We have enhanced our Advanced Filter capabilities by introducing the STARTS WITH and ENDS WITH operator options. These new additions offer users greater precision and flexibility when searching for specific data or resources, allowing them to filter results based on values that either begin or end with certain characters or strings. This makes it easier for users to target and locate data or resources that match specific patterns, significantly improving the efficiency of searches across large datasets.
Azure Kubernetes: Cost Distribution Split Ratios
We have enhanced our Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) support by introducing the ability for users to configure node cost distribution split ratios between CPU, Memory, and GPU resources - where applicable. This new functionality enables users to fine-tune cost allocation across different types of Kubernetes nodes within their clusters, such as CPU-intensive, memory-intensive or GPU-intensive nodes - leading to more precise and meaningful cost allocation, which is especially valuable for organizations that need to closely track Kubernetes resource utilization for financial analysis, chargeback or budgeting purposes.
