AWS Amortized Cost Enhancements

We have made several enhancements to the AWS amortized cost option we added in the last release. These recent enhancements will allow user to view the detailed distribution of the AWS reservation costs down to each recipient workload, both on a monthly and daily basis. As reminder, amortization refers to the process of distributing one-time reservation costs across the billing period affected by that cost, allowing users to view their costs in accrual-based accounting instead of cash-based accounting. This option is available across various cost-related functionalities such as Cost Dashboard, Budget, Alert, and Chargeback.

VMware Storage Cost Support

We have expanded our support for VMware cost calculations by adding support for storage costs in addition to compute and memory costs. This new feature allows users to have a more comprehensive view of their overall costs, as it includes storage usage and cost in the metering process. With the addition of storage cost support, users can also track utilizations and costs associated with their storage usage and optimize their usage patterns accordingly. Additionally, we have also added a simple cost entry interface that enables users to quickly and easily input and modify cost of individual storage, or input them in batch.

Chargeback Report with Grouping Support

We have added a new grouping capability to the Chargeback Report functionality called Chargeback Group. With this new feature, users can now create a hierarchy of chargeback reports. The membership of each group can be assigned either manually or dynamically through an auto-discovery process. This means that users can now group chargeback reports based on various criteria, such as by department, application, or location, making it easier to manage, analyze, and aggregate chargeback reporting for different segments of the organization. Additionally, the auto-discovery feature allows for continuous discovery and automatic creation of chargeback reports based on predefined tags or attributes, further simplifying the process of generating and maintaining chargeback reporting for the organization.

Account Onboarding Enhancements

We have made several enhancements to our account onboarding functionalities to further streamline the onboarding experience and reduce the time it takes for users to realize the value of our platform. Some of these enhancements include:

  • Added VMware provider option on the initial setup page. This will allow users to onboard the VMware provider immediately ( or exclusively ), without the need to be preceded by any public cloud provider onboarding.

  • Immediate discovery of associated usage accounts right after the Azure billing account onboarding, which enables users to onboard the usage accounts immediately after.
